Development of cross-polarization system for unstable nuclei

Description

The authors developed an RF ion guide type online mass separation device, and are conducting g-factor measurement and magnetic moment measurement of the excited state based on the differential perturbation angle correlation method for the target of neutron-rich isotopes in the medium-heavy nucleus region. However, the perturbation angle correlation method is impossible to measure the magnetic moment for ground state. Therefore, the authors have developed a polarized unstable nucleus generation method via cross-polarization method, and plan to perform the magnetic moment measurement of ground state, by combining this method with β-NMR method. As the polarized unstable nuclei generation method, the authors used a new method that combined the high polarization generation method for solid-state hydrogen nuclei using integration cross-polarization and the polarization transition method against unstable nuclei based on cross-polarization method. Using the polarized unstable nuclei generation device developed by this method, the authors succeeded in the generation and observation of hydrogen nuclei polarization as the seed of unstable nuclei polarization.
